Preview for the Game on April 8th

Preview for the Game on April 8th
Milwaukee Brewers (1-4) at Chicago Cubs (2-3)

Tomorrow will be opening day at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs. The game will be played at the friendly confines and the game starts at 2:20pm eastern time. The Cubbies will be facing the Milwaukee Brewers, who have been struggling early this year because of injuries. Therefore, the Cubs probable starter Edwin Jackson (0-1) needs to take advantage of the lack stars in the Brewers lineup. Jackson is looking for his first win as a Chicago Cub and a solid outing to make up for his loss in Pittsburgh. Edwin is a hard thrower who needs to pitch more strikes in his second start as a Cub if he wants to be effective. Jackson can benefit from the injuries to Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez, but Jackson needs to be able to get Norichika Aoki out because he has had a hot bat lately.

The probable opposing starting pitcher is RHP Marco Estrada, who is coming off a poor outing against the Colorado Rockies. Estrada is mostly a three pitch pitcher; those three pitches are a four seam fastball that ranges in the high 80s, a changeup that is his best pitch and a curveball that has a normal break to it. If Estrada struggles he is very hittable and can be beat, but if he is on his A game he can be difficult to hit. Tomorrow’s game will depend on if Estrada has good command on his pitches because if he doesn’t the Brewers might not have enough pop in the lineup to be successful against the Cubs.

The Cubs hitters get their first crack at a division rival at Wrigley Field. The Cubs hitters should match up well against the Brewers, especially Estrada, if they take advantage of his fastball. Welington Castillo will be back in the lineup tomorrow because of his day off in today’s game and I think Castillo can put in a good performance in this series against the Brew Crew. I think Lillibridge will be back in the lineup too because he hasn’t been playing much lately. I’m looking forward to this series against the Brewers because the Brewers pitchers have been struggling lately and I fully believe the Cubs hitters can use the Brewers struggles to get their confidence at the plate.

My prediction of the game is the Chicago Cubs coming out with a victory over the Brewers with a score of 7 to 3. I believe that because the hitters are getting their first chance at home they will go off this week. My predicted player of the game is Edwin Jackson because I see him going seven strong innings with 8 K’s. I can see David Dejesus having a great game tomorrow because he is coming off a solid weekend against the Braves and he will take that momentum and use it against the Brewers. I think the Cubs need a win tomorrow because of how hard they competed against the Braves and didn’t get a win out of it.
