Preview for the Game
on April 6th
Chicago Cubs (2-2) at
Atlanta Braves (3-1)
Tomorrow’s game is the second game of the series against the
Atlanta Braves. The game will be played at Turner Field at 7:10pm eastern time
and will be aired on WGN. The probable pitcher for the Cubbies will be the RHP Carlos
Villanueva. Villanueva is more suited to be a long-reliever or a swing starter
than a pitcher in a starting rotation, but injuries have created a chance in
the rotation for him. The types of pitches that Villanueva pitches are a four-seam
fastball in the low 90s, a solid slider, a circle changeup which is his
strikeout pitch, a curve with a normal break to it and a cutter that he uses to
get lefties out. Carlos Villanueva can be a solid pitcher this year for the
Cubbies, he just needs to keep his pitches down and prevent homeruns.
The probable pitcher for the Braves will be the RHP Julio
Teheran. Teheran is a young pitcher, who put in an impressive first year in
majors last year and has shown some growth during the spring. The pitches in
Teheran’s repertoire are a fastball that can reach around 94 mph, a cutter that
can be effective against left-handed hitters, a wicked slider and a changeup
that he uses to change speeds. Teheran doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but the
Cubs hitters can’t overlook that because he is a good young pitcher that can be
unhittable if his head is in the game.
The Cubs hitters are going to need to jump on the starting
pitcher of the Braves because the Braves bullpen is too good and too hard to
score runs on. The Cubs hitters match up well against Teheran, mostly because
he isn’t a lefty and isn’t overpowering. Nate Schierholtz will be back in the
lineup again and I expect him a have another good game as a Cubbie. I think
Rizzo will get back on track after his three strikeout game last game and get
an extra base hit.
My prediction for the next game is that the Cubbies come out
with a win over the Braves with a score of 4 to 3. I believe the Cubs will win
tomorrow because Atlanta will have a right-handed pitcher on the mound and the
Cubs haven’t lost to a starting RHP yet this season. My predicted player of the
game is Anthony Rizzo because I believe he will put in a great performance
tomorrow under the lights in Atlanta. I think that Carlos Villanueva will go
around 6 innings and gives up 2 runs on 7 hits.
